Biathlete of the Swedish national team Sebastian Samuelsson commented on the victory in the mass start at the 2023 World Championships in Oberhof, Germany.
“I think I had the best race of my career. I am very pleased with my performance – clean shooting and good speed on the track, it could not have been better. Both of my opponents, Martin and Johannes, made mistakes on fire, but constantly caught up with me on the circle. I just had to deal with it.
Sometimes they shot faster than me, but I was focused on my race and continued to do things my way. So I managed to close all 20 targets and save my energy for the final lap.
Defeating Johannes Boe was very difficult. After every race this season, I’ve said in the mix that the day I beat Johannes is getting closer. But no one believed me. We finally made it. Johannes is a great person and a strong athlete, the victory over him is felt in a special way. More importantly, we did it at the right time,” said Samuelsson.
