American heavyweight boxer Jermaine Franklin (22-1, 14 KOs) said that already being a professional boxer he worked in a factory.
“I worked in a factory manufacturing mesh that is embedded in vinyl cord. I did not have free time, because the shifts at the factory were 12 hours long. I didn’t have time to do it and train at the same time, I didn’t appear in the gym at all, because I didn’t earn anything from boxing, and I had to work and take care of my family. After we got the fight with Dillian Whyte, I made it clear to my managers and everyone else that from that very day we start training. At that time I was not in the hall, I had unpaid bills, children. I tried to find time to work out, but with these 12-hour shifts, it was unrealistic – I worked from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, after that I left work and drove the children to school at about 8:30, returned home, I managed to sleep a little, and at three o’clock in the afternoon I picked up the children.
I’m a calm, relaxed guy, but in the ring I’m a little crazy. There I am a completely different person. I keep repeating things to myself like, “Don’t be a jerk. You can’t give up here, there’s no one stronger than me!”. I use all sorts of psychological techniques in order to … I don’t want to say to piss myself off, but to motivate, ”said Franklin.
Jermain vs Anthony Joshua will take place on April 1st at London’s O2 Arena.
