“Before the race, I almost did not feel the limbs” – CBS TV STREAMS

Biathlete of the Italian national team Dorothea Wierer commented on the victory in the mass start at the eighth stage of the World Cup in Östersund, Sweden.

“My first 20 out of 20 mass start hits? I don’t even know how it happened. The zeroing before the start was unsuccessful – I made attempt after attempt, but I could not close all five targets, I did not feel confident enough. But in the race everything went well, I managed to focus on myself and work as if it was a time trial discipline – I did not pay attention to my rivals. Clean shooting today is the perfect result!

The start of a mass start always requires maximum concentration – everyone wants to get ahead, so there is a big risk of falls or equipment breakdowns, a real battle is unfolding on the track. I believe that the race does not start from the first lap, but from the first firing line.

After the third shooting, Julia took the lead and had a very powerful lap. I was sure that on the last shooting she would close all the targets – she worked so fast! Already standing on the mat, I heard that she made a mistake with the last shot, this was my chance. I thought Julia would quickly catch up with me on the final lap, because usually she is much faster than me.

Every day is special, but this morning I felt completely exhausted, almost did not feel the limbs. However, as you can see, I survived and showed a good result!” Wierer said.
