Well-known insider and journalist David Ornstein reported that the London Chelsea is close to appointing an English specialist and ex-player of his team Frank Lampard until the end of the current season:
Chelsea are close to appointing Frank Lampard as interim manager until the end of this season. The proposed deal provides for the immediate appointment of the 44-year-old coach, while the search for a new permanent boss continues in the coming weeks,” the journalist wrote on his Twitter.
In turn, Fabrizio Romano reports that Lampard agrees to such an offer. The decision is up to the Chelsea management, but at the same time, the Londoners already have a new round of talks planned with Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and other long-term job candidates.
Note that Lampard has already led the London team from 2019 to 2021.
Graham Potter has been sacked as Chelsea manager.
