Oleksandr Ishchenko, head of the Dynamo Academy, spoke about how the people of Kiev compete with Rukh in the youth championship of Ukraine.
– The Dynamo youth team has not been a champion for three years. This season there is a backlog from Rukh. How would you rate the performance of Igor Kostyuk’s team?
– It’s impossible to say for sure. Twice during this time the championship was not completed: first through covid, and then the war. Shakhtar were ahead of us last season only in additional indicators.
It’s great that such a rival as Rukh has appeared. In the west and in the center of the country, they actively carry out selection. Grigory Kozlovsky built an excellent base. They recruited young coaches who “plow”. It gave results. The guys go there. There is a good team, a good aura, a good methodology. This is a worthy opponent. There was no competition for anyone.
I will reveal the secret. In June-July we plan to hold a Challenge Cup in four age groups against Rukh. We are ready to take on the challenge. After the DUFL Cup and the return of our teams from Cologne, we are ready to have these sparrings. For coaches, these will be very useful matches. We will see the real balance of power in youth football.
