Former Ukrainian boxer Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-1-1.13 KOs), who previously competed in the heavyweight category, said that he saw the potential of the owner of the WBA, WBO and IBF belts Alexander Usik (20-0, 13 KOs) back in 2005.
“Honestly, I expected such success from Usyk. I saw him for the first time at the Ukrainian Championship in Lutsk. This was around 2006. I then competed in super heavyweight, and he was in 75 kg. The leader was Viktor Polyakov from Ivano-Frankivsk. Also an experienced fighter, he went to the Olympics.
And then he suddenly comes out with a certain unknown Usyk, and Alexander breaks him in his own manner, and confidently breaks him. Then I turned my attention to him. Thought there was a future. And after that, he gets into the national team and becomes one of the leaders even then, ”said Glazkov.
