After a difficult victory over the Slovenian Cedevita Olympia, which became the first away victory for the current champions of Ukraine in the European Cup, Prometheus will host their next rival in the group stage of the second most important European Cup. The German Ratiopharm from Ulm will visit the Titans, but this match will be different from other home matches of the Ukrainian club.
It is known that Prometheus holds its nominally home matches in Riga, which at this difficult time has become a real second home for Ukrainian basketball. However, due to Arena Riga being busy, the Slobozhansky club was forced to look for another venue for the meeting with Ratiopharm. And here another Baltic country extended a helping hand to the Ukrainians. Prometheus will play the game with the Germans in Kaunas at one of the best European basketball venues, Zalgiris Arena, which regularly hosts Euroleague matches and is a favorite to host the Final Four 2022/2023 of the main European basketball competition.
Together with Prometheus, the German Ratiofarm will come to test the parquet at the home arena of Zalgiris. If the Ukrainian club is the debutant of the European Cup, then for the basketball players from Ulm this season has become an anniversary, the tenth within the framework of this tournament. However, during all this time, our opponent has not achieved much success in the international arena. The best results for the Germans are two quarter-finals in the 2012/2013 and 2021/2022 seasons.
This season, Ratiopharm is still among the middle peasants of the European Cup. After five games played, Anton Havel’s wards have two wins and three losses.
