Head of promotional company Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn said that in order to organize a fight between WBC heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and WBA, WBO and IBF champion Alexander Usik (20-0, 13 KOs), one of them must go to financial concessions.
“It’s not often that I agree with John Fury, but it’s an argument. Sometimes when you want something, like an absolute championship, you have to swallow a deal. Both sides are now in a situation where they need to make concessions.
Fury is obviously saying, “There’s no way I’m giving Usyk a 50-50.” Usyk, in turn, replies: “I will never agree less than 50 to 50, I have three belts.” Someone has to make concessions if they want the fight to take place. These fights rarely happen.
The reality is that Tyson Fury’s commercial value is on a different level than Oleksandr Usyk,” Hearn said.
