The UAE’s young guns have been chosen for the Nomura Cup in 2022.

The APGC Team Championship, also known as the Nomura Cup, is a biennial amateur team golf championship for men. The APGC Team Championship, which began in 1963, will be hosted by 16 different countries in 2022. The tournament is played over four days, with each day consisting of 18 holes of stroke play, with the best two daily rounds counting toward the team score. The tournament has been dominated by Australia, which has won the Cup ten times, and Japan, which has won it seven times. There is also an individual champion in this event.

The 29th Nomura Cup will be played on the Masters Course at Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club, a Jack Nicklaus signature championship course. It is arguably the best championship course in the Philippines, with a design strategy that includes numerous creek crossings and lakes. The Club is located in Carmona, in the lush province of Cavite, south of Manila.

“It is critical to provide our young generation of golfers with the opportunity and experience to compete in these Championships,” said General Abdullah Alhashmi, Vice Chairman of the EGF.

“These players represent our future.” The EGF will push our players to the next level of their golfing careers with the continued support of the UAE Sport Authorities and Councils. This reflects not only the Federation’s development but also its vision of supporting the youth in UAE golf,” General Alhashmi added.

This is the first International Championship for 16-year-olds Mohammed, Rashid, and Abdalla, who will be captained by UAE National Golf Coach Samir Wallani. The team will be joined by the EGF’s Vice Chairman, General Abdullah Alhashmi, and Director General, Akram Skaik.
