Star Norwegian biathlete Tiril Eckhoff has announced her retirement. The 32-year-old athlete missed the entire current season due to health problems, and never returned to racing.
Eckhoff made her debut at the Biathlon World Cup in the 2011/2012 season. In total, she won 28 victories and climbed the podium 50 times. In 2021, Tiril won the overall World Cup standings.
Twice – in 2014 and 2022 – Eckhoff became the Olympic champion in the mixed doubles. At the world championships she won 10 gold medals, three of which were in individual races.
Previously, such stars as Marte Olsby Royseland, Denise Herrmann-Wick and Anais Chevalier-Boucher announced their retirement.
