UK will boycott both world boxing championships due to the participation of Russians

The UK boxing team will not participate in the upcoming Men’s World Boxing Championships, which will be held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) from April 30 to May 14, 2023.

The reason was the IBA’s recent decision to allow boxing teams from Russia and Belarus to compete under their own national flags, which is contrary to the position of the IOC regarding the participation of athletes from these countries.

The British Boxing Federation (GB Boxing) condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people and boxers.

British boxers will compete for Olympic licenses in June 2023 at the European Games in Poland.

Earlier, the British announced a boycott of the women’s world championship.
