Representatives of the 20 countries that have notified the boycott of the World Boxing Championship intend to take part in an alternative tournament. The venue will be the Netherlands.
This was announced by the head of the Boxing Association of New Zealand, Steve Hartley.
“None of the associations is going to participate in any events of the International Boxing Association (IBA) from now on. We organize other tournaments. Instead of the men’s world championship, there will be an alternative tournament in the Netherlands,” Hartley said.
Earlier, the President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine Kirill Shevchenko confirmed that most countries remain on the side of Ukraine, contrary to the decision of the IBA to take action against the federations of the countries that decided to boycott the World Cup due to the fact that the teams of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus were admitted to it.
