Rukh head coach Vitaly Ponomarev commented on the defeat of Lviv in the match against Zorya (0:3).
“It’s been a tough game. We were preparing for such a match, because we were up against a very serious opponent, one of the best teams in our league. However, we wanted to play aggressive football with her, not to play number two on the field. Not everything worked out. But we have already used what we have been accumulating in recent weeks. Of course, there were many mistakes, and it was the unnecessary mistakes in defense that led to the goals conceded.
It is clear that we wanted to achieve a positive result. This time, unfortunately, it didn’t work out. We will move on, work hard, correct our mistakes.
If there had been more time to work with the team after the appointment as head coach, I still don’t think we would have chosen any other game plan. Of course, some mistakes would have been taken away… But in general, it is always easier to talk after the match than before the start of the game. It’s impossible to predict everything 100 percent before the match.”
