On the evening of April 1, London’s O2 Arena hosted a big night of boxing from the Matchroom Boxing promotion.
The famous British boxer returned to the ring Anthony Joshua (24–3, 22 KOs), his opponent was an American Jermaine Franklin (21–1, 14 KOs).
Jousha won by unanimous decision:
Anthony Joshua (Great Britain) – Jermaine Franklin (USA) – UD 12 (118–111, 117–111, 117–111)
After the fight ended, AJ announced his interest in the British derby against Tyson Fury:
“I try to please the fans. Who do the fans want? They told Fury, didn’t they? The ball is on his side.
It would be an honor for me to compete for the WBC world title.
I stand here and say this with pride, it would be an honor.
Wherever you are, if you are listening, you know my management, you know my promoter, we already had a dialogue, so let’s continue and hopefully we can do it as soon as possible. We are not getting any younger.
I can’t wait to get back to Texas and train and move on because there’s a bigger fight. You know: one fight leads to another. I’m looking forward to the next big fight.”
